Two People Critical in Houghton

Two people were critically injured when a minibus taxi collided head-on with another vehicle in Houghton, Johannesburg emergency services said.It appeared the taxi drove through red traffic lights straight into a Toyota bakkie on Houghton Road around 1pm on Thursday, said ER24 spokesperson Riana Beech.The bakkie was then hit from the back by a VW Golf that was driving behind it. "A woman fell out of the taxi which came to a halt on her as it fell on its side. Bystanders and other passengers pulled the woman out from under it, said Beech.The driver of the bakkie was also critically injured.

Emergency service treated 16 passengers on scene, Beech said. - Sapa / IOL
