Metro Police Injured

ER24 paramedics responded to the scene of an accident where their Metro Police colleagues were reportedly injured this afternoon just after 1pm.

Whilst responding to an emergency call, the Metro Police rapid response vehicle, which had it’s blue lights flashing and sirens on, entered the intersection of West & Williams streets in Durban. They collided with two other vehicles and spun out of control before coming to a halt in the middle of the intersection.

ER24 paramedics stabilised the driver police woman, who sustained suspected neck and back injuries, before taking her by ambulance to St Augustines hospital. Her police partner was miraculously uninjured.

The drivers of the other vehicles were visibly shaken but also uninjured. Traffic was backed up in West street and Williams road as emergency personnel worked to clear the scene.

It is so difficult to respond to scenes where our colleagues are involved. There is such an emotional attachment as we interact with the police every single day. They are a part of out family.
