At approximately 09H25 this morning, traffic was brought to a stand still on

the N3 and N2 at spaghetti junction after a container truck lost control and
crashed. The truck which was traveling on the N2 onramp towards the North
coast, lost control at the beginning of the curve in the road and mounted
the barrier wall. The momentum pushed the truck and trailer over the barrier
where it fell, and landed on the N3 west bound. The truck then slid across
all three lanes and struck the crash barrier. The crash barrier gave way
under the force of the impact and the cab continued over the gap and came to
rest in the fast lane of the N3 east bound. The trailer's container clamps
the broke allowing the container to break free spilling its contents over
the road. The trailer then fell between the two N3 carriageways and came to
rest on the fast and middle lanes of the N2 southbound below.

Er24 paramedic Tristan Manning said the cab of the truck was completely
crushed, killing the driver instantly and entrapping his body. A Mercedes
Benz was damaged after being struck by falling debris from the truck but the

traffic until the late hours of the afternoon as Metro fire and hazmat
crew's continued to clean up the spilt fuel and container contents.

Paramedics acted quickly to clear the patients from the scene in order to remove the vehicles to prevent another collision.

Only one lane remained open for traffic.
