Diplomat Dies in Crash

Paramedics resuscitated for over 45 minutes this morning on an unknown diplomat in Pretoria after he was involved in a major accident in the CBD.
It is believed that a blue green BMW and a white SUV Honda collided with each other on the corners of Hilda and Schoeman Streets in Hatfield during the early hours of this morning.
Paramedics from ER24 that arrived first on the scene found the two vehicles scattered across the intersection. The BMW was found on the opposite side of Hilda Street halfway through a palisade fence of a nearby building. The Honda SUV was found against the wall of a nearby building wedged against a tree.
The exact cause of the incident is not known at this stage, but it is believed that the Honda was thrown with force against a tree next to the road before it came to a standstill against the wall.
Paramedics noticed that a man, believed to be in his 40's, were trapped in his Honda SUV and had poor life signs. Paramedics could not extricate the man from the vehicle and initiated emergency treatment inside the vehicle. The Tshwane Fire Department had to use hydraulic and rescue equipment to free the diplomat from his vehicle.
Shortly after the man was rescued from the wreck, he lost his pulse. Paramedics quickly initiated CPR on the scene. Advanced Life Support Paramedics tried for over 45 minutes to regain his pulse, but due to extensive injuries he was declared dead on the scene.
Two occupants from the BMW sustained serious injuries and was rushed off per ambulance to the Pretoria Academic Hospital for further medical treatment. The middle aged couple were treated for multiple injuries on the scene.
Paramedics and Fire Fighters could not find any identification on the man. On scene it was confirmed that the man is a diplomat from an unknown country, but no next of kin details could be located.
ER24, LifeMed, SAPS, Fire and TMPD attended the scene.
The Tshwane Metro Police will be investigating this incident.
