Highway Closed After Accident

The N12 Highway was chaotic this morning after a truck and two other vehicles collided with each other just before the Comaro turn off.

According to an eyewitness on the scene, it appears that a Isuzu bakkie might have lost control on the N12 whilst travelling in an opposite direction and smashed trough the median barrier into oncoming traffic.

A truck and a light duty bakkie with a trailer was in the destruction path of the out of control vehicle. It is understood that the two bakkies collided semi head on with each other and then smashed into a truck that tried to avoid the collision.

The light duty bakkie and its two occupants lost control after the smash and landed on top of an embankment next to the highway. The truck's rear wheels were severely damaged and the truck came to a standstill across all three lanes of the highway, causing a severe obstruction.

Paramedics that arrived on the scene, treated the male driver of the Isuzu bakkie for minor injuries. He was transported in a stable condition to the Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital for further medical management. All of the other parties involved were assessed on the scene, but fortunately did not sustain any injuries.

The traffic was severely backed up in an eastern direction passed the Diepkloof Interchange.
