Changing a Tyre Result in Serious Injury
Central Durban: Smith Street played host to an unfortunate and unforeseeable accident early on Saturday evening. A man (43) had returned to his vehicle from work to find his front right wheel was flat. According to bystanders on the scene, the man was attempting to change his tyre when he was struck down by a callously speeding taxi driver who obviously had a flagrant disregard for human life. Bystanders claim that the taxi had been speeding and driving recklessly. According to Metro police, the taxi driver had fled the scene, after seeing the severity of the man’s injuries. The patient was pulled from the street by members of the public, who witnessed the tragic accident. The man, who sustained serious spinal and head injuries, was stabilized by ER24 paramedics on the scene. He was taken by ambulance to Addington hospital where he is currently in a serious but stable condition.
