Hendrik Potgieter and Doreen Claims yet another

A horrific accident occurred on 10 February 2007 at approximately 21h00 on the corners of Hendrik Potgieter and Doreen Road in Ruimsig.

A white Land Rover crashed into a black Conquest ripping it to pieces. The impact was so great that the vehicle was torn open and some of the occupants were flung from the vehicle. The Land Rover collided on the left side of the Conquest.

Paramedics raced to the scene and found a horrific sight. A young man believed to be in his 20's was killed instantly in the collision. Another 18 and 19 year old teenager girl was also injured. A man, also believed to be in his 20's, was found lying outside the vehicle, he sustained severe injuries and was transported by ER24 to Flora Clinic Life Hospital.

The two girls were walking around on scene, shocked and traumatized about what had happened. They were immediately assessed by paramedics. They escaped this horror crash with only minor injuries. NetCare911's chaplain was called for much needed counseling. NetCare declared the man dead on scene.

Shortly after paramedics arrived on scene, family members flocked to the scene with tears in their eyes. They were severely traumatized.

The friends and family in the Conquest were on their way back home after they attended a 21st birthday party.

The 39 year old driver of the Land Rover escaped without any injuries. He was traveling on Hendrik Potgieter in Krugersdorp direction when the incident occurred. He was clearly also in shock.

The SAPS and Fire Department cordoned the area off. Johannesburg Metro Police Department will be investigating the accident.
