Two Serious In Maraisburg Crash
Two men have been seriously injured when their red Mazda collided with a bridge pillar next to the N1 highway near the Maraisburg off ramp this afternoon.
It is understood that the red Mazda was travelling south on the N1 when the driver apparently lost control over the vehicle. The vehicle smashed into a side pillar in the middle island causing the vehicle to spun out of control and overturn several times.
Paramedics that arrived on the scene found the two men outside of the vehicle. Both of them were in a serious condition with multiple injuries. Paramedics had to initiate advanced life support on one of the men and take over his basic life functions, due to the severity of his injuries.
Paramedics from ER24 Emergency Services, Gauteng Province and Netcare joined forces to quickly stabilize the two men on the scene before transporting them in a serious, but stable condition to the Life Flora Clinic for further medical management.
The exact cause of the accident is not known.
Curious onlookers slowed down and stopped on the scene to look at the mangled wreck in the middle of the highway. Traffic was backed up in both directions.
