Entertainer dies in crash

A 58 year old entertainer has died in a horror car crash this afternoon on the corners of Pierre and Alec Streets in Honeydew. The 58 year old man was allegedly on his way to a kids party close by when he was involved in this accident.

The entertainer's white Uno and a Silver Mazda Etude collided in the intersection at about 14h45. Both of the vehicles were flung to the opposite side of the road and landed in a trench next to the road.

The Uno, which was traveling on Pierre Street away from Honeydew when the two vehicles collided with each other. Toys and miniature cars were scattered over the road. It is believed that they were flung from the trailer which the Uno was towing at the time.

When paramedics arrived on scene we found the young male driver of the Mazda walking around on scene. He was assessed by paramedics. It appears that he suffered only minor injuries. He was clearly in a lot of shock after the accident.

Paramedics found the 58 year old man still hanging from his overtunred vehicle by his seat belt. His body was mangled inside the Uno and had to be cut out. The fire department had to use the Jaws-of-Life to free his body from the mangled wreck.

Their was nothing that paramedics could do to save his life. It is believed that he died on impact.

A Trauma Councillor of Honeydew Police Station provided much needed assistance to the deceased man's fiance. She was contacted by the councillor to inform her about the accident and assisted her with everything.

Johannesburg Metro Police investigated the accident. The intersection was closed of for the duration of the incident.
