Malawian Knocked Down by Taxi

A 25 year Malawian national was knocked down by a passing taxi on Cedar road outside the Sasol Garage, yesterday morning,

According to friends of the pedestrian, they were waiting next to the road to cross when he (the patient) was knocked by a taxi.

The 25 year old sustained major head and pelvic injuries. He was stabilized on scene, but had to be airlifted from the Fourways Life Hospital to the Johannesburg General Hospital. (Suitable and safe landing zone for helicopter)

Paramedics from ER24 and Fourways Life Healthcare called the helicopter for quick evacuation of the patient to the hospital.

At this stage it is unknown who was at fault at the time of the accident. The taxi was apparently on its way to Zevenfontein informal settlement to collect passenger. The driver was uninjured in this collision.

The pedestrian was found several metres from the side of the road.
